Individual Perception

We are now getting hotter and hotter in Texas. Well, it is still way incomparable compared to the extremely hot temperature of Las Vegas during our vacation on July 1-6. Everyday we are getting close to 100F. Today, we finally reached 103F. Freaking hot but some of our guests who came from Qatar and Dubai and Australia find our temperature nice since they said their place is way hotter than our temperature. Whew! It is really funny how individual's perception on hotness vary. What is hot for you might be perfect for others and vice-versa.

Want To Have A Share?

Yesterday we finally hit more than 100F in North Texas. It was freaking hot that is why I hate to go out when I am not going swimming because I will assure you that you will really be sweating from head-to-toe. No exaggeration here. My husband keeps on teasing me that I am one of the few individual who grew up in a tropical country who find our temperature here way extreme. He likes teasing me about it because he knows that I easily get annoyed. Darn! I don't care what he is going to say. All I know is it is damn so hotta, hotta, hotta in here these days and I am certain it would be worst in the coming days.

When Air and Heat Collide

Another hot and windy day today. So, to cool down ourself, my stepson and I decided to jump in the water. What a great relief! It was so refreshing and all the body heat are eliminated from our system. The water in the pool is a little colder than usual because of the strong wind. Oh by the way, we had a very windy day today. Actually, this windy weather started yesterday. It is pretty much windy that the air is made colder by it. Humidity is not too high as well. However, it is not safe for many people especially those who are leaving in the grassland as it is very dangerous for grass fire. Yesterday, there were already some reported fire caused by the strong wind. I didn't watched the news today so I didn't know if there are some fire today. I just hope there is none.

Summer Delight

June has officially kicks in. Weather-wise, we will be in the mid-90'sF to 100F for our highest temperature and mid-70's to 80 for our lowest temperature. It is summer ended! Memorial day is already over and school year will soon end here in most district in North Texas.
Another special event that most of us has been waiting for is the Father's Day. Moreover, I am sure that are a lot of us who are already very excited for their beach get-away or any vacation get-away. If you are near the lake, I am sure it is very tempting to jump in the water and practice the strokes that yor've always wanted to perform.
Well, summer is really one of the most awaited part of almost all people because of the numerous activities that everyone is capable of doing in this time of the year. So, how about you? Any plan so far this summer?

Be Prepared; Be Ready

Few more days and the hurricane season will finally kick in. What does it means? Everyone especially the people living in the coastal areas should be ready for this time. This further implies that they are going to start stocking food in their house and have their own disaster plan in case of emergency. No one can really tell when, how and where it will going to happen so it is a MUST to be prepared all the time. Remember, weather changes abruptly that sometimes it would be too late for us to respond to it. Hearing the news about the upcoming hurricane season, the most devastating hurrican Katrina picture comes to my mind. I am sure that the hurricane Katrina's destruction is one of the worst experiences that American people wants to forget. It was a total disaster and until now states like New Orleans and Louisiana are still trying to get back to their feet after the devastating hurricane hit their place.

Feels Like Philippine Temperature

For almost an hour, my body enjoyed the coldness of the water. If you remember, I wrote in my previous post that I was sweating so hard the whole day especially around 2PM when the heat's intensity was at its peak. I was supposed to jump in the pool earlier but since we were out of sunscreen lotion so I didn't go swimming because I don't want to have a sunburn. So, I waited for hubby to arrive and even if I forgot to tell him to buy one he bought one because according to him he knows already we are going to swim. Good boy! *wink* LOL! Tomorrow and on Sunday we are expecting for another 90F plus temperature and it may somehow feel around 100F plus again because of high humidity. The temperature that we have here right now is more or less like the April-May temperature we have in the Philippines or even more because the high humidity content of the air increases the hotness that everyone felt here. No time for long sleeves or even short sleeves. All I want to wear this time are sleeveless, spaghetti straps blouse, halter, tube or anything without sleeves. Of course, mini skirts and shorts are a must here if this extreme temperature continues.

92F But Feels Like 99F

94F real temperature but it feels like 99F because of high humidity! That’s the highest temperature we have today here in Lewisville, Texas. I was sweating so hard. It was so hot. I went outside with the hope of enjoying some cold breeze but I was only welcome with a very warm breeze. I sit by the window while doing something with my blogs and I can truly feel how extreme the heat outside. A lot of people crowded the pool especially the kids. I planned to also jump in the pool and soak myself there as I am sure the water is cold but since hubby said he will go swimming when he gets home so I decided to wait for him. Well, I could have turned on the AC but I feel like the electricity spend will not be worthy since I am only alone in the house. The fan does justice anyway but just don't go far from the fan or else you will see sweat running after each other from my forehead down to my neck and to the A_ _pit...LOL. This extreme hotness has been experienced by us since this week. Now, I can't even imagine what the temperature will be when summer finally kicks in. Well, let us see. Base on forecast, we will have this temperature on weekends which makes lakes and pools as the number one destination of people in the area.

My Salutation

What a beautiful day we have here in Texas! The sun is brightly shining up in the clear, blue sky. The branches and twigs of the trees are softly swinging as if dancing with the beautiful song of nature that only them can hear. Water is so inviting as well; hence, hubby and I decided to go soak ourselves in the bit cold water in the pool. A lot of people are in the pool right now. Kids are shouting and chasing each other and some are playing games in the water. Parents are on the pool side watching them and some are in the water. It is Sunday, yes, a family day. That is why everyone has flocked in the pool. Oh, what a beautiful day indeed! I miss the Philippines when the weather is like this; very similar to the weather that warmed and cool me down for 23 years.

Safe and Sound

This is the second day that hubby isn't home. He is in Chicago, Illinois for 3 days for a yearly managers' meeting. He left yesterday and he will be back tomorrow night. As usual, it is very lonely in the house. Grrr... Yesterday, I was a little worried when it was about time for their plane to depart because the weather isn't good. We have a couple of severe thunderstorm warning and (the scariest) tornado warning all throughout the North Texas. Well, Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex isn't affected that much.

Unfortunately, hubby and the rest of the passengers were kept inside the plane for 1 hour. They weren't allowed to depart 1 hour after their scheduled take off because of the bad weather. I asked hubby if the airplane will serve snacks or something to munch while waiting for take off but he told me only water was served. Darn! Anyway, I was feeling relieved when hubby called me from Chicago airport that they arrived safe although there were a couple of air turbulence they met along the way.

Weather Update

Even if I am very sleepy already, I still want to finish watching the news especially that they are talking about a tornado that touchdown in the Northern part of Denton County where we belong. Well, Denton County is big and we are on the other end. The tornado touchdown when the storm is on its way to Oklahoma moving the speed of 35mph. This isn't the only place that was affected with a couple of light tornado touchdown today. Some houses are destroyed. Luckily for us here in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex because we only have slight rain.
Anyway, I am really very sleepy here. I will just lie down while watching the news. My back is aching now and my eyes are already closing on its own. It only indicates one thing....I am very sleepy already. Ciao!

Weather - Weather Lang

Once again, Texas especially North Texas is bombarded with a lot of scattered severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings. Since last night, hail up to a golf ball size is seen in some nearby cities. Although, we aren't sure but hubby thought that we had small hail shower and received much rain last night.
These days, our weather here is really weird. In Bisaya, " ulan, init pista langit!" LOL... Well, hubby already warned me that this type of weather is just normal during spring. Spring in Texas is a severe thunderstorm and tornado season. Can you imagine? (Madugay matugkan ta anig hubag2x...LOL) So far, we didn't have tornado warning here in the city although some nearby cities already had. They even had their sirens on in the past few days due to a possible tornado touchdown. Hopefully, it won't happen in our city... Or else, man I will totally become more paranoid with tornado... Well, who isn't?

Weather Check

Luckily, I was able to experience snow twice before winter ends. This is my first year in the US so those were the instances that I felt, experienced and touched it. It was pretty amazing for a first timer like me. The environment looks really white, I was even to picture out in my mind how a white Christmas looks like.

According to hubby, spring is considered as severe thunderstorm and tornado months here in Texas. He is right! So far, we have a lot of severe thunderstorm and tornado warning issued in the area. Fortunately, the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex weren't devastated by those natural calamities. Yes, we were hit by severe thunderstorm and had recent tornado warnings but thanks God there's nothing severe that touchdown yet. Hopefully, there is none.

Two nights ago, I was awakened at dawn, approximately around 3:00AM. I woke up because of the loud noise in our roof and glass windows. I thought there were someone who is messing with us or who is stoning us but to my surprise I saw a lot of hail of a quarter-size when I peep in the curtains. Ice (hail) was scattered all over the ground and the ground became white and wet at that time.

We got pretty weird weather, huh?

Your Smile, Our Warmth...

I see him and he is smilingly overlooking at me. He is shining bright up there and I cherish it. Yes, we are still wet today but thanks to you for slowly making everything around dry. It may take a while since the creeks and lakes will mellow down and lower down their water level but I am confident that it will be done faster if you will just consistently shine on us. Warmth is what we want after the devastating storm. Basically, we should be pretty warm already as we are very close to the first day of spring. But just like as usual, Texas weather is weird. Today is very warm, tomorrow is snowy, back to warm day and tomorrow is stormy. Sometimes, I just ought to stop thinking what tomorrow will be as weather is really very unpredictable as it can ever be.

Are Thunder and Lightning Your Friends?

Until now, I am still scared of lightning and loud roaring thunder. Ooooppppssss... Don't laugh at me. I am not a kid anymore, I know. I am just a scared-to-death fella when it comes to these natural phenomena. LOL... Keep this as our secret, okay? Don't mock at me. My husband can't help his smile when he sees me squeezing myself in bed when there's lightning or if I heard thunder.
Before I will go any further, guys do you know what time of the day is lightning most probably developed? Base on studies and science, lightning most probably formed at around 3PM-6PM when the atmosphere is less stable. Today, one church in Arlington, Texas was hit by lightning. The church wasn't on fire; thanks God! The minister and one youth are lucky enough that they weren't hit by it when it struck the church. No one was hurt although it leaves a little evidence that the lightning had once struck there.

Bad Weather Scenario

Heavy rain… Tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings… Flooding... Overflowing sewerage... Trees fell down. Stranded passengers… Around 550 flights canceled. A bit strong wind… Hail. Sold out and busy hotels. Cars trapped in flood. Plus here comes the very frustrated vacationers because they weren’t able to realize their outdoor planned activities. Crazy callers begging and asking a hotel room for overnight stay. Our due outs guests calling or going back to the hotel asking to get their rooms back. Yes, that is what happening to North Texas today. A pretty bad weather hits North Texas today causing all these chaos. Although we are a bit fortunate since our city isn't aren't affected much except for a rain shower. Here's wishing the weather won't worsen.

Snow Aftermath

We are a little bit cold as the sun set but there was no snow falling from the sky. The last snow showered Dallas downtown early morning today. Despite with all the road accident that happened, a lot of people are very happy to have the snow since it gives them and their kids the chance to play with the snow either skiing or just sliding down the hill. Some people were having fun making snowmen. Others are very busy cleaning their porch, patio, cars or driveway. Others are very early going into work traversing the slippery and dangerous roads with snow. Sun rose around noon and on my way from work to the hotel, I only see few ices left in shady places.

These photos are from the snowy afternoon yesterday...

Snowy March

A day after our first snow here in DFW area, heavy snow poured again yesterday. I was still at work when snow started. The first snow happened at night while yesterday was in the afternoon.

After an hour of snowing, I already observed that the surroundings turned out white. Snow piled up in the ground, on top of cars and other vehicles and on the roof of buildings. It even stuck on trees and other plants.

Traffic was also terrible yesterday. The sad thing was there were a couple of road accidents either car skidding on the curb or hitting another vehicle.

To give you more idea on how DFW looked like yesterday, here are some pictures.

Curse of Nature

We have a bad weather tonight. Our county is currently under a tornado warning which will be lift up not until 2:00AM. Wind is currently blowing hard plus rain is pouring heavily.

A lot of places are also under severe thunderstorm warning at this time. I am not that scared though because my husband is here. I am just thankful it doesn't happen when I am alone. What is scared though is because we are under tornado warning at night in which everyone will be sleeping pretty soon especially those who need to be at work like me.

Ooppsss... don't get carried away that much with what I said here... Hubby said we will be fine and I am just exaggerating my feeling about the matter. hehehe... Still, I believe there is nothing wrong to be more cautious and think in advance. Tornado is one of a traitor calamity. It happens in a wink of an eye that most people are caught off-guard.

Warm and Cold

I am home already from work. My husband is here as well. He didn't go back to work after he picked me up because he is not feeling well. He's been sick for a couple of days now. It started with flu and now he has cough. I keep on telling him to see a doctor but he doesn't schedule a visit not until two days ago. His doctor's appointment will be tomorrow.

He is just okay. He isn't weak but I still want him to have a check-up to make sure. I know flu has been around since the weather here started getting weird. I describe weather as weird because at night until dawn we are either below freezing point or in the 35F; however, we are 65-70F in the afternoon.

How about you? How's weather in your place?

Awesome Day Break

We have a beautiful morning here in DFW area in Texas. I can see the sunlight passing through the glass window. It feels great as the warm sunlight hit my skin. I wish this will always be like this but it's not because it is cold outside because of the wind.

Yes, it is another windy day here in our place and once again there are places that are put under RED FLAG WARNING because of the possibility of having wild grass fire. If you remember, last week North Texas had a wild grass fire that burned down several houses and damaged farms. I hope this day will not be another sad day; hope there is no wild grass fire as forewarned.
