My Work and Hubby

Tonight is not an exemption to many nights that hubby has to pick me up at work after working 3-11PM shift. As usual, hubby has to wait for 15-20 minutes until we can head home. I hate to let him wait but in most cases there are stuff that I need to do in the last minute. For hubby, it is already a common scenario for him to see me rushing to finish a note either for the manager or shift staff.

Sometimes, if I feel like I will be out early I will call him that I will be out on time or else he will head towards the hotel on or couple of minutes past 11PM. We just live in the next city, approximately 8 minutes drive without traffic that is why there is no problem if he will leave the house in the last minute.

If I am already outside waiting for him to arrive is a miracle to him. It is a big relief because it only means he has not to wait for me outside or in the lobby watching TV. Poor hubby.

Even if he has to wait, he said he will still prefer to pick me up to and from work if I am working second shift even if I have my driver's license already. He is not comfortable letting me drive at night because of several crazy and careless drivers at night. So sweet of him... right?

Now It Is Over

Non-stop phone calls, left and right request for the shuttle, several check-outs and very demanding guests are what greeted me with my first day at work after my two-day off. I didn't exaggerate it but today is the craziest and the busiest day ever since I started working here. What makes it more difficult for the Frontdesk and shuttle driver is the fact that everyone calls one-by-one and asked to be either picked up or drop to a certain convention center approximately 2 miles away from the hotel. When hubby called me today before noon, I told him I can't talk to him because it is really very busy hat I can't stay long in one phone calls because another one or two or more are waiting to be answered. Anyway, the good thing is, the busy atmosphere makes time ticks so fast. The next time I looked at the clock, it was already 2:00PM, time for me to start counting my money and prepare everything to close my shift. When it was few minutes before my shift ends, I want to drag the minute-hand of the clock so it will even move fast. I just wish I can do that...

Relax and Warm Yourself at Amelia Island, Florida

For a person like me who is used to live in a tropical country (Philippines), being in a place with a cold weather is difficult. It demands self-struggle until my system will get used to the coldness. When I arrived in Texas on May this year, I feel relieved because it was warm and when summer came it was hot but now that winter is approaching the temperature becomes cold already. Right now, I do wish to go to a place near the beach where the weather is warm and sunny. Well, if given a chance, I would certainly love to spend my Christmas vacation in Amelia Island, Florida. Aside from the warm weather that they have there, they also have beautiful beaches. So, it is like hitting two birds in one stone.

Hold on, wait until you hear this and I am sure you will even be in awe. The reason why I want to spend a vacation in Amelia Island, Florida is because they are having a Lodging Special right now. When you book for two nights at any of the participating hotels and bed and breakfasts at Amelia Island, you will get the third night absolutely for FREE. It’s indeed a very fantastic deal because aside from the fact that the place is incredibly beautiful there are also a lot of activities that you or your family can do there. In Amelia Island, there are golf courses, incredible restaurants, great shopping places and a lot more where you can hop around while staying there. It was also voted by Conde' Nast readers as one of the top 10 islands in America.

Since the lodging special promotion is until February 29, 2008, if we can’t go down this Christmas hopefully we can go there before the promotion will end. I will inform my husband about this so he can check his schedule at work. Likewise, I am hoping that if I will be working soon, I will also be able to get some time off. I can't wait to soak myself in the warm beach water and wander around the island with its warm weather. I am sure it will feel like being in my home country again.
